Defence SA and the South Australian Space Industry Centre are tremendously proud to be a sponsor of REA’s ‘in schools’ programs which include SUBS in Schools, F1 in Schools, Space in Schools & 4×4 in Schools.

Defence SA is South Australia’s lead government agency for all defence matters, with a mission to grow investment the Australian Defence Force and defence industries which leads to new and exciting jobs for South Australians.

A vital part of the organisation’s strategy is to ensure a highly-skilled, industry-ready workforce is in place to underpin defence projects, which aligns with the work REA is doing to inspire young people to pursue a career based on STEM.

Defence SA and South Australian Space Industry Centre Chief Executive Richard Price said a large number of defence companies and growing number of space companies in South Australia provided real opportunities for students to forge exciting and varied careers in the state.

“South Australia has secured a pipeline of defence work, with the Hunter class frigate and Attack class submarine programs spanning over 40 years and beyond,” said Mr Price.

“With many more opportunities across cyber and systems and information warfare, there has never been a better time to consider a career in the defence industry.

“We are also rapidly establishing ourselves as the nation’s centre for space innovation, being home to more than 80 space-related organisations and the Australian Space Agency.

“The REA’s ‘in schools’ programs are making a career in STEM an exciting prospect, and we need to do everything we can to encourage our young people to consider these highly skilled careers as they are the way of the future.”
