Tuesday 23 September 2025, State Library of South Australia

What is a satellite? What do they do? And why are there so many of them?

Join the Australian Space Agency at the State Library of South Australia where a Space Communicator, from the Australian Space Discovery Centre, will explore these answers with you and more!

Learn about the many different types of satellites orbiting our planet, and discover some of the different jobs they do to help us every day. Attendees will have the opportunity to construct a paper satellite. What special job will your satellite do?

Out of this world: Australia in the space age is a national touring exhibition developed and presented by the National Archives of Australia, in partnership with the State Library of South Australia. All attendees are invited to explore the Out of This World Exhibition.
